Openhealthhub email traffic! An apology

Hello to all OpenHealthHub users. Thanks for joining what is a rapidly growing and vibrant community about health IT generally, with perhaps (but not exclusively) a special interest in open source.

Over recent weeks the number of members has rapidly increased, resulting in a LOT of email notifications. I sincerely apologise if this has been hammering your inboxes with notifications.

I’ve now made some changes to the default settings on the site to try and reduce email frequency for you. It’s worth reassuring you that all the emails are just notifications about posts, and you can merrily delete them, because the conversation will still be there on openhealthhub.

In addition, you can personalise your notification settings on the site by clicking on your user avatar (top right of the page), selecting Preferences, and scrolling down to Email, where you can choose when you want to get notifications.

You can also opt-in or opt-out of notifications on a per-Category level (if there is just one category you have a particular interest in, for example), and you can opt-in or opt-out of Topics as well.

If anyone’s having difficulty changing the notification frequency, simply email me on and I’ll assist you.

Once again, thanks for becoming part of this community, which has already drawn together a great range of Health IT specialists, and in terms of great discussion and information sharing, is just getting going!

Many thanks Marcus

Congrats on the rapid rise of interest & discussion on openhealthhub

On that issue of notifications, let me share a screenshot…
My email notifications are set to every 3 days but updates seem to be
arriving in real time.
Can you reply with a screenshot of the changes I/we need to make?

thanks again

Hi @tony.shannon and thanks. All you need to do is untick “Send me an email for every new post (unless I mute the topic or category)”
I’ve marked it in red on the screenshot.

thanks @pacharanero for that.

The negative in there confused me…
“Send me an email … unless I mute the topic or category”

That must mean:
“Send me emails on all topics/categories, unless I mute specific

thanks again

Some users are reporting difficulty in unticking “Send me an email for every new post (unless I mute the topic or category)” because it is greyed out.

I think this is a bug in the latest version of Discourse but Discourse fix bugs very rapidly so hopefully a fix will be out in the next few days.

In the interim, anyone having a problem unticking the option, please Private Message me (you do this through the top right avatar icon, then the envelope icon) and I can do it for you through the Admin panel.
